Description
This authentic work of Tigua folk art features a masterfully hand-painted narrative of an Andean weaving and spinning scene. Unlike standard paintings, this piece is uniquely constructed in the traditional “drum-style”. A cured sheepskin has been stretched tight over a hand-hewn wooden frame and secured with iron tacks along the perimeter. The scene captures the complete cycle of textile production, depicting artisans using raw wool bobbins, spinning with drop spindles, and working at a backstrap loom. The background features a detailed mountain landscape through an open doorway, likely representing the Cotopaxi region of Ecuador.

Condition Note: Excellent vintage condition. The paint remains vibrant, and the sheepskin canvas is tightly secured to the frame. The back displays the natural, mottled texture of the original hide and includes a simple cord hanger.
