Description
A unique hand-thrown stoneware crock featuring a warm, semi-matte mustard-yellow glaze. The front is decorated with a hand-painted deep brown heart flanked by delicate, stylized “feathers” or wheat stalks. The reverse features a matching three-point floral spray. This piece is structurally distinct, featuring a traditional vertical loop handle and a secondary horizontal lug (ear) handle. The original fitted lid is present, showing the same mustard-toned finish. The interior reveals clear throwing rings from the potter’s wheel, indicative of traditional studio production.
Condition Note: Excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Features minor glaze pops and kiln-firing iron spots that are characteristic of this pottery style.
Provenance: From the personal estate of Tom Muir Wilson and Sherry Clark Wilson.
