This authentic bronze shaman’s gong is a powerful artifact of Hmong (Miao) spiritual heritage, collected during a 1999 expedition to the Golden Triangle. Hand-forged using traditional sand-casting and hammering techniques, the gong features a deep-dish rim and a central boss (nipple) that produces a clear, resonant tone.
The face is decorated with a masterfully hand-etched Lotus flower motif, radiating from the central boss. In regional iconography, the Lotus represents purity and spiritual awakening, making it a central symbol in shamanic ritual ceremonies and healing practices. The gong displays a beautiful, dark-aged patina with visible hammer marks and natural oxidation, authenticating its age and field use.
Condition Note: Excellent vintage condition with an authentic aged patina. No cracks or structural repairs. The bronze shows natural “verdigris” typical of field-collected metalwork from the late 20th century.
