An exquisite example of Kondapalli Bommalu craftsmanship, this hand-carved elephant figure is a hallmark of the folk art traditions of Andhra Pradesh, India. Carved from the exceptionally lightweight Tella Poniki softwood, the elephant features a regal ceremonial saddle (howdah style) and is adorned with intricate floral and geometric motifs. The color palette utilizes a rich Deep Terracotta base with vibrant accents of yellow, green, and white. The elephant is mounted on a decorated rectangular wooden base with a traditional dotted border, representing the auspicious role of the elephant in Indian cultural festivals.

Condition Note: Good vintage condition. Shows minor, age-appropriate surface wear to the lacquer-style paint, primarily on the edges of the base and ears: no structural damage or significant losses. The patina is consistent with a mid-to-late 20th-century piece.
