Description
An authentic piece of Southeast Asian village stoneware from the renowned pottery hub of Ratchaburi, Thailand. This bulbous “water jar” (traditionally called an Ong) is crafted from the region’s signature ochre-red clay. The upper half is finished with a dark chocolate-brown drip glaze, while the shoulder features a hand-scored “guilloche” or interlocking wave pattern. This style of jar was historically used in Thai households to keep drinking water cool through natural evaporation. The rustic, two-tone aesthetic makes it a perfect sculptural piece for organic modern or “Wabi-Sabi” interior design.
Condition Note: Excellent vintage condition. No chips or cracks. The piece exhibits beautiful “kiln character,” including natural glaze crazing and drip marks that reflect its handmade origin.
