Description

Antique French confit pot (pot a confit), a traditional terracotta vessel from Southwest France historically used to preserve meat confit before refrigeration. Classic half-glaze treatment: cascading glaze in green, rust, and ochre tones pooling unevenly around the shoulder, with the lower body left raw and unglazed, allowing the pot to be partially buried in cool cellar earth. High lateral loop handles for lifting the pot back out of the ground. Approximately 11″H x 8.5″W (widest point) x 4.25″ base diameter x 4.5″ top diameter. Acquired during Tom and Sherry Wilson’s personal travels; part of the Craft World Tours Collection. Sold as-is with all associated patina and wear.
