Description
Vintage Japanese kayoi-tokkuri, a plain, monochrome-glazed stoneware sake bottle traditionally used by sake merchants for bulk delivery to households and inns, distinct from more decorative tokkuri used at the table. Classic pear-shaped body, narrow shoulder, flared trumpet neck, warm tan/brown glossy glaze. Base carries a collector’s inventory notation reading “Ketpaugh ’76” along with a catalog code “US-C-12S,” suggesting this piece passed through a Western collector’s hands, likely acquired or catalogued in 1976. Sold as-is with all associated patina and wear.
