Overview
Korond (Corund) folk pottery jug from the Hungarian-Székely pottery village of Corund, Transylvania, Romania, inscribed directly on the handle: “KOROND. 1979.” Craft World Tours documented repeated travel through this exact craft region across multiple years.

Design & Craftsmanship
Function & Form: Baluster-form handled jug, trumpet neck, strap handle. 9.5″H x 4.5″W, 3″ opening.
Artistry & Ornamentation: Cream slip ground with hand-painted decoration in cobalt blue, green, and manganese-brown; feather/plume motifs on the neck, cross-hatch lattice band at the shoulder, stylized tulip cluster on the lower body.
Structural Base: Unglazed footring with kiln-contact marks, consistent red-orange earthenware body.

Condition Report
Surface Condition: A hairline crack is visible at the rim (see photos). Otherwise the glaze and painted decoration remain vivid for a piece nearing 50 years old.
Structural Integrity: Stable; rim crack should be handled with care in shipping. This item is sold “as-is” with all associated patina and wear inherent to its age and history as part of the Craft World Tours Collection.
