Overview

This hand-thrown terracotta plate comes from the Horezu pottery tradition of Vâlcea County, Romania, recognized on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The piece bears the impressed workshop stamp of the Mischiu family, one of the region’s recognized multi-generational master-potter lineages. The central medallion features the traditional “cocoș” (rooster) motif, worked in Horezu’s signature spiral-comb sgraffito technique.
