Description
Provenance: Part of the esteemed the Craft World Tours Collection, acquired in Thailand, 1991.
This authentic bamboo weaving reed is a masterful example of traditional Thai tool-making from the early 90s. Unlike modern steel reeds, this piece utilizes hand-split and polished bamboo teeth, meticulously secured with traditional cordage and a hand-applied lacquer sealant.
At 22 inches in length, it is a substantial piece that serves equally well as a functional tool for fine-fiber weaving or as a striking ethnographic display piece.
