Description
This “Siam” style ethnic bib necklace is a striking piece of mid-to-late 20th-century tribal adornment. Hand-constructed on a heavy black cotton canvas base, the piece features multiple rows of polished natural cowrie shells. The design is accented by hand-cast metal medallions and vibrant glass seed bead borders in a traditional primary color palette. A row of embossed metal charms hangs from the bottom edge, providing both a rhythmic visual and auditory element. Collected during a 1999 Southeast Asia expedition, this piece represents the traditional artistry found in the Golden Triangle border regions.

Condition Note: Authentic vintage. The front-facing shells, beads, and metalwork are in excellent condition and securely attached. There is minor fraying and honest wear on the interior black fabric backing (visible in photos), consistent with age and field use. See Photo.
