Description

Antique kaval, a traditional fipple-style shepherd’s flute found throughout Anatolia (Turkey) and the wider Balkan region (Bulgaria, Albania, Romania, Macedonia, Serbia). Metal (brass) body with a plugged, whistle-style fipple mouthpiece (dilli kaval variant). Alternating bands of engraved brass and dark wood/horn segments run the length of the body. Six front finger holes, plus additional small voicing holes near the open far end. Likely part of the Craft World Tours Collection, consistent with Tom and Sherry Wilson’s Anatolian Culture & Folkways tours through rural Turkey in 2003 and 2005. Sold as-is with all associated patina and wear.
