Overview
This decorative cherry wood spoon was hand-carved in Romania in the Maramures/Transylvania woodcarving tradition, sharing its carving vocabulary with a dated companion pair from the same broader source. The reverse bears a period inscription reading “PACE” and “DANILA,” along with a numeric notation likely reflecting an old Romanian Lei price predating the country’s 2005 currency redenomination.

- Function & Form: A shallow bowl beneath a handle carved with a pierced wavy cut-out band and a six-petal pierced star medallion flanked by chevron-notched accents, ending in a pierced hanging hole. Approximately 12.5″ long.
