A cornerstone accessory for the fiber artist, this vertical Lazy Kate is expertly crafted from solid hardwood with a warm, hand-rubbed finish. The design features a three-tier vertical orientation with removable steel rods, allowing for the plying of 2-ply or 3-ply yarns. This specific unit is a free-spinning (non-tensioned) model, which reduces drag and is highly sought after for plying delicate or high-twist singles.
The weighted, beveled rectangular base provides exceptional stability, preventing the unit from “walking” or tipping during use. This piece has been meticulously cleaned and conditioned as part of our restoration project, ensuring the wood grain is preserved and the axles remain snag-free. It includes two matching wooden bobbins, making it ready for immediate use.
Condition Note: Excellent vintage condition. The hardwood has been treated with saddle soap and natural oils to restore its luster. Minimal signs of wear consistent with age; bobbins are smooth and rotate freely on the steel rods.
