Overview

This is a hand-painted clay candle holder from Mexico, in the form of a spotted giraffe with a small candle cup on its back flanked by two painted birds, standing on an oval base decorated with a red-and-yellow floral motif. The underside is marked “Mexico” in red. This is consistent with mid-to-late 20th century Mexican tourist-market folk pottery, likely from a pottery-producing region such as Jalisco.

• Artistry & Ornamentation: Hand-painted in bright poster colors — yellow body with brown spots, maroon mane, pink candle cup, and two yellow-and-green birds; oval base with red and yellow floral decoration.
• Structural Base: Solid clay base, marked “Mexico” in red paint on the underside.
