Overview
A traditional Mexican molinillo with a two-tier whisking-head design, intended to whip more air into the chocolate than a standard single-head whisk. Same Oaxaca provenance context as its companion piece (SKU CWT-MX-2000-137), tied to Craft World Tours’ 2007 “Christmas in Oaxaca” itinerary.
Design & Craftsmanship
- Function & Form: Single piece of carved wood with two separate pierced whisking heads stacked in sequence, each separated by its own set of free-spinning captive rings, leading to a turned tapered handle. Measures 14″L, weight 6 oz.
- Artistry & Ornamentation: Both heads are pierced with triangular/geometric cutouts and finished with dark painted banding.
- Structural Base: Single piece of solid carved wood, no joints or glue.
Condition Report
- Surface Condition: Clean, with intact rings and clear cutout/painted detailing.
