A vibrant and sturdy open-top storage basket handcrafted by Wolof artisans in West Africa. This piece utilizes a thick-coil construction of local grasses bound with colorful synthetic strips in a repeating geometric pattern of diamonds and chevrons. Unlike the lidded versions, this open-form design features a slightly flared rim, making it ideal for accessible storage, a unique table centerpiece, or a wall-mounted display. The contrast between the natural grass core and the vivid binding creates a modern, high-energy aesthetic that highlights the meticulous hand-coiling technique practiced by the Wolof people.
Condition Note: Excellent vintage condition. The coils are tight and structurally sound with no significant fraying. The interior shows very little wear, suggesting it was primarily used as a decorative piece.
